As the holiday season approaches, we reflect on a year of strides and setbacks for the Environmental Justice movement. In pivotal times like these, we turn to journalism and storytelling to understand and shape our world.

This Giving Tuesday, we're thrilled to share exciting news: The Margin, an independent media publication, has joined as a special project of People over Plastic in our collective pursuit of environmental justice through bold journalism and compelling storytelling.

Founded by Bryce Cracknell, a writer, filmmaker, and activist, The Margin amplifies the voices of those most affected by environmental injustice. Our stories delve into the insidious cycles marginalizing communities, offering a vital perspective on the intersection of social and environmental issues.

In 2022, during the 40th Anniversary of the environmental justice movement, The Margin published impactful stories recognized by The Nation magazine and earned two Anthem Awards in Sustainability, Environment & Climate. Now, we're gearing up for our next issue, slated for Summer 2024, and we need your support.

Your contribution on Giving Tuesday will help fund the next volume of The Margin, ensuring our narrative-driven stories continue to shed light on environmental justice issues. Together with PoP's multimedia and content expertise, we're building a groundbreaking partnership for environmental journalism.

As many of you already know, People over Plastic is determined to tell the stories that matter — stories of environmental justice that bridge gaps and inspire change. The Margin is more than a publication; it's a bridge between timeless stories and the urgent need for their telling. By supporting us, you play a crucial role in amplifying the voices that demand attention and change.

Join us in building a brighter, more just future. Your Giving Tuesday support will have a lasting impact on the field of environmental journalism, rooted in the reality of communities facing environmental injustice are receiving the attention and recognition they deserve.

With gratitude and determination,

Shilpi Chhotray, Executive Director, People over Plastic

Bryce Cracknell, Founder and Editor in Chief, The Margin
